11TH ANNUAL BODY TALK SPRING BREAK DANCE WORKSHOPS
TEENS: 10:00am to 2:00pm
ALL AGES: 5:30pm to 8:30pm
An intergenerational dance experience produced by the Crimson Coast Dance Body Talk Cru! Our youth teen council, known as the Body Talk Cru, have spent the year organizing this event for our community. They selected rising star artists of the OURO Collective to spend six days in Nanaimo, March 27 to April 1, teaching two workshops a day. One is for TEENS and the other is for ALL AGES. Participants will, each day, learn b-boy or girl, contemporary lyrical dance and a fusion of the two. ADULTS, fear not! These excellent educators will take your age and experience level into consideration! Both workshops then combine to perform together on April 2 at the Port Theatre, followed by a spectacular performance by OURO Collective!

B-boy. B-girl. BE BOLD. Dance.
Each year our Body Talk Teen Cru select professional contemporary dance artists to offer two incredible week-long dance workshops over spring break that result in a performance on the last day! The Cru spend the school year learning event production skills by planning the workshop series and the finale performance.
This year the Cru has selected rising star artists OURO Collective to combine B-Boy, B-girl & Lyrical Dance styles. Join OURO Collective, the Body Talk Cru, and workshop participants for this bold, high energy finale performance.
ABOUT OURO COLLECTIVE The name OURO comes from the Greek word ouroboros, which often symbolizes self-reflexivity or cyclicality, especially in the sense of something constantly re-creating itself. In the context of the arts, this is the ultimate goal: infinite creation. OURO is an eclectic, Vancouver-based dance collective that uses hip-hop, waacking, breaking, popping and contemporary dance as the foundation for the creation and production of new work. As individual artists coming from diverse cultural and dance backgrounds, OURO sees collaboration as a catalyst for dialogue, creative innovation, and community building. United around the common goal of pushing the boundaries of how street dance-based works are created and presented, OURO is dedicated to creating performances that explore the full range of possibilities and identities the group represents. OURO company artists are: Cristina Bucci, Dean Placzek, Maiko Miyauchi, Mark Siller, Antonio Somera Jr, Rina Pellerin.
